Contrast is the difference in brightness or color that makes an object different, i.e., its representation in an image or display. In real-world visual perception, contrast is determined by the difference in color and brightness of the object and other objects in the same area. The human visual system is more sensitive to contrast than at full brightness. We can see the world the same way, regardless of the drastic change in illumination during the day or from place to place.
