An IP address, or Internet Protocol address, is a unique number composed of numbers and periods used to identify each device that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address help to identify a device on the Internet or local network.
An IP address is one of the fundamental building blocks of the internet and is a long string of numbers assigned to every device connected to a network.
An Internet Protocol or IP address is a string of numbers separated by periods. An IP address is expressed as a set of four numbers - for example; 192.158.1.38. Where each number range from 0 to 255. Therefore, the full IP addressing range goes from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255.
IPs are mathematically produced numbers and allocated by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), a division of the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).
