What is Occam’s Razor?
Overview
Occam's Razor states - Out of competing hypotheses that predict equally well, the one with the fewest assumptions should be chosen.
Occam's razor is also known as the principle of parsimony or the law of parsimony. It is the problem-solving principle that entities should not be more than necessary. It is best to reduce complexity on priority.
It is generally understood in the sense that with competing theories or explanations, the simpler one, or the model with fewer parameters, should be preferred. According to this law, the simplest explanation is better than a complex model; i.e., analyze each element and remove the extra (redundant) elements without compromising the overall functionality.
