What is Touch Screen?
Overview
Touch screen technology is an assembly of a display device with a touch panel. Typically, a touch panel is covered over an electronic visual display within a processing system. The first touchscreen device was made and used in 1973.
A touch screen is a display device that allows us to interact with a computer device using our fingers or a stylus. They are a useful alternative to a mouse or keyboard for navigating a GUI (Graphical User Interface).
Touch screens are widely used on electronic devices, such as computers and laptops, tablets, smartphones, cash registers, and information kiosks. Some touch screens use a grid of infrared beams to sense the presence of a finger, rather than using touch-sensitive inputs.
