1. Our Commitment
HealXRlabs is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.
As a company that designs and builds digital products for others, we believe accessibility is not optional -- it is a fundamental requirement of good engineering. We apply the same standards to our own digital presence that we advocate for our clients.
2. Standards We Follow
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including:
- Visual impairments (blindness, low vision, colour blindness)
- Hearing impairments
- Motor impairments
- Cognitive and neurological disabilities
3. Measures We Have Taken
HealXRlabs has taken the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper HTML5 semantic elements (header, nav, main, footer, article, section) to ensure screen readers can navigate content effectively.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. A “Skip to main content” link is provided for keyboard users to bypass navigation.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus outlines (crimson red) are displayed on all focusable elements when navigating with a keyboard.
- ARIA attributes: We use appropriate ARIA labels and roles on navigation, footer, buttons, and interactive components.
- Colour contrast: Our colour palette has been selected to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios. Primary text (white on dark navy) exceeds the required 4.5:1 ratio.
- Responsive design: The website is fully responsive and functions on all screen sizes, from mobile phones to large desktop monitors.
- Reduced motion: We respect the
prefers-reduced-motion user preference. When enabled, all animations and transitions are disabled. - Alt text: All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately.
- Form accessibility: All form fields have associated labels, required fields are clearly indicated, and error messages are descriptive.
- Link purpose: Links are descriptive and provide context about their destination.
4. Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some areas may not yet be fully accessible:
- Some AI-generated images may lack fully descriptive alt text.
- Third-party embedded content (such as analytics scripts) may not meet all accessibility standards.
- PDF documents linked from the site may not be fully accessible.
We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across all areas of our digital presence.
5. Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with:
- Modern web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge -- current and previous major versions)
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Browser zoom up to 200%
- Operating system accessibility features (high contrast mode, text scaling)
6. South African Legislative Context
Our accessibility efforts are informed by the following South African legislation:
- Constitution of the Republic of South Africa -- Section 9 (equality and non-discrimination) and Section 10 (human dignity)
- Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act (PEPUDA) -- prohibits unfair discrimination on the grounds of disability
- Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECT Act) -- promotes access to electronic services for all South Africans
- White Paper on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2015) -- promotes universal design and accessibility
7. Feedback and Contact
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:
We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to resolve reported issues within 30 days where technically feasible.
8. Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our website against WCAG standards and update our practices as guidelines evolve. Our development process includes accessibility considerations at every stage -- from design through to deployment and testing.
